چکیده

The presence of fluoride ions in water poses a significant danger to human health. In Tanzania, where the Rift Valley passes, some people are impaired due elevated levels water. purpose this study was prepare thermally activated Adansonia digitata fruit pericarp biosorbents at 450, 500, 550, and 600°C for defluoridation. Using Brunauer-Emmett-Teller analyzer, surface area pore diameter were measured. scanning electron microscope Fourier transform infrared spectrometry used determine morphological features functional groups biosorbents. To analyze effect pH, adsorbent dose, contact time, initial concentration, response methodology applied. Adsorption isotherms, kinetics, regeneration studies also conducted. There considerably wide areas 385.44, 399.27, 445.71, 447.70 m2/g diameters 0.3055, 3.0341, 3.0375, 3.0471 nm 600°C, respectively. FT-IR spectra indicated oxidation alcoholic –OH carboxylic during activation process, which is proved by shifting peak 3500-3000 cm-1 from raw biosorbent very broad strong band 3500-2000 biosorbent. maximum removal efficiencies 95.55, 96.50, 97.65, 98.36%, respectively, all pH 2, an concentration 27.50 ppm, period 75.00 minutes, dose 5.50 g, indicates that adsorbents successful removal. isotherms kinetics adsorption fitted well with Freundlich ( R 2 = 0.95661 ‐ 0.98445 ) pseudo-second-order id="M2"> 0.94230 0.99634 kinetic models, results showed prepared effective could be defluoridation drinking

Sorption of Cu(II), Zn(II) and Ni(II) from aqueous solution using activated carbon prepared from olive stone waste

The performance of olive stone activated carbon (OSAC) for sorption of Cu2+, Zn2+ and Ni2+ ions was investigated via batch technique. OSAC materials were prepared under different physially activation conditions. Olive stone waste was physically activated with N2 gas and steam gas at 900oC at 3.5h hold time (OSAC-3) was choice as the best one for Cu2+, Zn2+ and Ni2+ removal. Characterization for...

Removal of Hexavalent Chromium from Aqueous Solution Using Activated Carbon Derived from Palmyra Palm Fruit Seed

In this study, removal of chromium(VI) from aqueous solutions by Palmyra palm fruit seed carbon (PPFSC) and commercial activated carbon (CAC) was investigated. The metal adsorption capacity has been studied as a function of contact time, pH and carbon dosage. The adsorption yields increased with the increasing of adsorbent dosage and contact time, and subsequently reached the equilibrium. The s...
